Hi there I'm new so be gentle, we have just had our boiler changed to a combi ( vailant eco tec pro ),I'm a councel tenant, the problem is the room thermostat is in the living room that faces south which makes it the hotest room in the house, the radiator in the living room doesn't have a regulator on it to turn it down so when the heating comes on it turns off after a while leaving that room baking hot and the rest of the house freezing, we have to have the windows open to let the heat out so the other radiators stay on, the councel say they can't put a regulator on a radiator in the same room as the wall thermostat. is this correct and what can I do to make them listen. sorry this was so long winded but I'm new to this, thanks LT

you can't put a regulator on a radiator in the same room as the wall thermostat, i would ask if they can move the room thermostat to the hallway (that's normally the coldest room) if not ask if they can change it for a remote thermostat then you can put it where you want

Many thanks for that, but does that mean if I have a remote it is possable to have a regulator on the front room radiator or must there be one without somewhere on the other radiators that must be on at all times, with the price off gas nowdays that doesn't seem very efficent or economical, thanks LT

Hi, if the council move/change the room thermostat it is possible to fit a TRV to the radiator in the living room. It would involve draining the system down again so it's not a 5 minute job. An easier solution though would be for you to simply turn down the living room radiator using the manual valve that is on it. This would have the effect of the living room taking longer to heat up, giving the rest of the rooms a chance to heat up while the boiler is on.

Hi there, sorry for delay but been having battle with councel but they have finally left the room thermostat were it is (in the front room) but fitted a thermostat on the front room radiator, after all the fuss saying they cant. thanks again for your help. L🙂
