Just a quickie,
Got a loft conversion, fitting an ensuite and bath.
Part G states for hot water to bath must fit TMV, ok that fine,
If DHW supplied from a combi boiler do the requirements still stand. I think its gonna be very rare that any combi can supply hot water to a bath at over 48oc
or should I just fit one anyway and tell the customer thats that.

in my opinion i would say cover yourself and fit one.

thats what I thought, only another 80 quid on the bill.
But they did ask, what about the existing bath, will ya have to fit one on there.
I just said no, gave them a copy of part G n left it at that.🙂

£80? i got three from hrpc for £75 the lot.😎

Part G is only for new builds so you will be ok

It wouldn't surprise me if the combi splashed out 55 degrees plus IMHO

£80 for a TMV is steep

Hmm, your havent seen the state of the combi! 😀

£80 for a tmv, we have to make a bit of profit somewhere 😛

The part of G3 that applies to TMV’s is Section G3 (4).

Requirement G3 (4) applies only when a dwelling is-
(a) erected;
(b) formed by a material change of use ----------

Therefore with the installation of a new bath in an existing dwelling there is no requirement to fit a TMV.

However if you fitted a new bath without a TMV and a child was scalded in said bath then it might be possible to end up in court as there is a known problem and a known solution as shown by the change to the building regulations.

I will be specifying TMV’s on all the system designs I do in the future including refurbs when they are strictly not necessary.
