Have a section of copper pipe I need to replace in my attic (very slow leak).

Should I cut pipe behind existing coupler and replace from there and install a new coupler or reuse existing coupler and heat/remove damaged pipe only?

Home built 1982.

Thanks in advance!

Due to fire risk from soldering, unless you know what you are doing and are properly insured you should probably be using compression fittings in an attic, so replace the existing soldered (I assume) fitting.
