So today I hear hissing in my pipes in the downstairs loo. Hoped it was nothing but within a few hours water was falling down the hall wall.

My regular plumber sent two of his guys round. Chipboard floor in bedroom ripped up.. 3 leaks pipe replaced that length but the pipe turns and they found another 6.

Pipe goes under the wall to the shower room. They said they couldn’t do that pipe as it needs the floor pulling up in the bathroom. Tiled shower room will have to be demolished but as it seems to be multiple faults in the main line all pipe work from the mains upstairs needs replacing.

I’m left waiting to hear from their boss. Have half a floor gone.. multiple Tupperware pots.. stopcock only open 1/4 way and facing 6k to do the pipe work and then potentially both bathrooms where they need to rip the floors up.

Insurance job or not

Can’t you go from below eg through the plasterboard ceiling ?

And your insurance?
Not spoken to insurance yet.

It would be just as much upheaval I think as they recommended re running the entire cold water feed. The pipes span every room. 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.

The leaks are right up close to the joist and stud walls. They said they can’t fix that on an emergency as it’s at least 4 rooms for this run and more for replacing the whole lot. It’s about 3m they replaced today and another 3 where leaks are visible but not reachable without pulling up 4 rooms of carpet and 1 of tiles.
