whats the best tool to use when cutting into the joists to lay your pipes?
i'm hiding a hot and cold pipe under my bathroom floor
any advice greatly appreciated cheers

Id use a saw and hammer and chisel! check the building regs first as there is a limit to how much of a joist you can remve and how far along the the joist a hole can be cut.

yes the regs are you need to leave a gap of 0.07x the span of a joist. after that measurement you can notch it and sometimes its easyer to use a 16mm drill bit and just remove the wood that is needed and slot the pipe through.

An alternative if you're using plastic piping is to drill holes through the joists halfway down the joist height, and then thread the flexible pipes through.

This reduces the strength of the joists far less than notching their topsides does and is quicker. And I like using plastic!
