Hi, we've had a few problems with our Valiant boiler which mainly consisted of fuses going in both the boiler it self and the timer switch. When the fuses were replaced everything seemed fine. Tonight, however, the fuse in the timer switch has gone and when we replaced it it tripped all of the electricity in the house. I'm guessing we need to call an engineer as we are no experts but any advice grateful. Thanks.

Hi what fuse's have you replaced ? do you mean the small glass fuse in the boiler ? and what fuse in the timer ? do you mean the one in the main switch ? this should be 3amp (Red) sounds like you have somthing in the boiler causeing fuse to blow, if you are putting to large a fuse in switch for heating it will trip out on main board.

In all seriousness, you have an electrical fault and I suggest your first port of call should be a plumber/sparky.

the fact that your fuses keep blowing suggests there is something wrong in the boiler, time to call in the professionals

Sorry GQuigley, just when you referred to the Professionals a old 80s tv cop program sprang to mined ! maybe to old for you but all the rage back then, perhaps not shown in your location.

Young whippersnappers have never lived eh! Probably don't even know what a 3 litre Capri is.
