I am about to move into a new property and in the kitchen there is plumbing for one appliance only l. Is there anyway I can adjust the plumbing to fit in both a dishwasher and a washing machine? I have limited experience with plumbing, is this something I could do myself or would it require a professional plumbing?

hi welcome to the forums. you should be capable of doing this yourself. you need two cold feeds and a hot if the washing machine needs both. easiest way to do waste is to get a new basin waste with two spigots for the w/m and d/w to connect to.

or get a plumber and he will do it once and will be done proper with no leaks ,or if any is not your insurance to cover it .

For the DIYer there is a Y branch fitting you can buy which splits the supply to two appliances assuming they both only require cold feeds. Dead easy to fit just goes straight on washing machine valve. You'll need a double spigot sink trap for the waste too.

the y branch isn`t that for plumbing hot and cold of one appliance into just the cold feed ?

why are we assuming its just the waste and not the inlets ?

think he / she needs to be more specific in there post

We're not. Y branch is for the supply. Wouldn't do this myself BTW. Would cut in a tee and fit new w/m valve but as a cheap option for a DIYer it'll do the job.

Agreed they need to be more specific.
