I've recently got my nvq level 2 (6129) plumbing certificate, i was hoping to get a little bit of work & experience before i continue on to level 3. however i am having a little trouble, most jobs i've seen advertised require a cscs card, i applied for this but it turns out i have to have relevant experience within the industry. does anyone have any advice on how to get work or experience at my level of qualification?

I was in same boat as u mate. I am now doin my level 3 same time as nvq level 2 and a gained a voluntary placement for one day a week by just writing letters and sending emails to every plumbing and heating company around my area! Good luck

Also you can enquire about the cscs card at your local job centre.

the 6129 isnt an nvq
this worries me when people dont even know what quals they have

dont you need the nvq for cscs/jib card?
may be why you cannot get one!.

If you can provide a letter from your employer which outlines your job duties and basic site skills, you can get Plumbing Employee UK-PHMES CSCS Card (Green). And that’s without any NVQs.
Check out JIB web site: http://www.jib-pmes.org.uk/plumbing_employee_green.htm it’s all there.
Or you always can get the CSCS labourer card to get yourself on site, job centre can help you with it or do it yourself.
