I went into my local plumb centre at lunch time and did my usual thing when reps are in that I don't want to talk to and I avoided eye contact.

So I ordered my bits and the lad behind the counter obviously decided to get me back for months of abuse and said why don't you tell him why you don't fit Vaillant to which the rep said yeah I would like to know and it went something like this

I loved the 242 and 828 I think they were brilliant boilers and now I think they are overpriced and unreliable, whys that he said , well dodgy pumps, diverter valves flow switches causing F75 faults, dodgy flue seals, over-complicated controls, takes too long to answer technical lines, stealing customers and that they may as well just put a Glowworm badge on it. But then I did try and cheer him up by saying I'd still rather fit a Vaillant than a Worcester which he was quite happy with.

The poor bloke looked gobsmacked and said we have worked on a lot of the problems that you have said about but fair point and I will pass it back.

But then I did try and cheer him up by saying I'd still rather fit a Vaillant than a Worcester which he was quite happy with.

This is why I try not to speak to reps unless they are selling something I want!

I use to give the Worcester reps hard time but now the one we got down here is a top lad.

So my personal choice of abuse is now the baxi one

Vaillant shot themselves in the foot years ago with a lot of people when they started poaching servicing off loyal installers. Not to mention reps demanding contact details of all WB fitters etc from branch managers in a certain area....

According to him it was home serve and not Vaillant that were poaching and they have now ditched them.
