Potterton Prima 50f

The main burner on this boiler keeps going out prematurely. Its not locking out. After some investigation, i found when i moved the front plug on the PCB the solenoid on the GV was shutting and opening. Also the board was starting to spark. I have shut the boiler off and am waiting for a new PCB to be delivered. Anyone came across this before, everything else on the boiler looked okay. Just wondering if theres anything else worth checking??

dry joints on the pcb is not uncommon on a potterton this age,once it is replaced,hopefully it should be ok

I'd echo that one puddle!
PCB's on these are prone to failing.............!

Do a service, remove the fan hood from the heat exchanger, (get a new flue to hood gasket first) then look down the inner flue, Il bet that the inner flue has corroded. get a new retro fit inner flue replacement, clean out the heat exchanger with a blade, fit a new door seal, check burner pressure, gas rate etc.

Iam doing just this on a prima 50 on Wednesday, pics and how to to follow...

Ditto mate! ... Prima 30F for me!!! Failed fga today! ... Not sure if it'll help 'Allybongo' with this issue, but a common one otherwise 🙂
