question for all you heating bods My inlaws have an old puma and its regularly serviced and generally pretty reliable Ma in law has been unwell of late and really feels the cold when ever I visit it seems like an oven in there. Just lately the boiler seems to go off with no warning till they notice the temp drop in the house so they called out the servicing company
but by the time the guy came it had reset itself he done some checks but could not pinpoint
the fault and as it was working he said for them to call again if the problem happened again. I wondered if this model has an overheat stat? as it seems once it has been off for a while it seems to reset itself when its working its really good for a boiler of this age rads and hot water .I think they may have it replaced in the near future and wondered a good replacement suggestions please many thanks oh have changed room stat by the way just in case 🙂regards turnpin

it does have a oh stat along with a pcb prone to melting its resistors not a good boiler sadly turnpin a good replacement would be a potterton performa he or baxi duotec

Could be the wax thermostat in the diverter valve sticking, fan running slow when hot/air pressure switch, as said make sure no dripping taps, as gas man says ,this boiler is coming to the end of its economical life, will start having a lot of problems, time to replace, with what,.....we all have our favourites

agree with puddle ,if there is any hot tap dripping it is enough to stop the boiler working in heating mode ,it could also be the CH thermistor that needs changing

Had the same problem with a potterton puma a couple of weeks ago replaced the wax diverter valve about a 1 hour job start to finish the valve was about £110.00 the boiler as worked fine since
