Potterton Suprima 40L Problems

I have some recurring but intermittent problems with my system.

Firstly, and most regularly of the problems is my boiler does not stay on and shuts off. I have the controller set by timer and the thermostat but I constantly have to go and click the reset button.

Secondly and most worryingly, every so often I have a loud banging noise from my tank, followed by screeching and usually accompanied with the overflow shooting water out like a hose. It only happens for a few mins and settles down but it is happening a bit more regularly.

I am not looking for advice on how to fix it as I am not qualified, I would like some general ideas of what is going on so I can get someone out to have a look.

you need a heating engineer to service/repair your system asap, as there is an overheat issue occuring.
