Hi Gents,

I've been asked to powerflush the system at a property that has a mix of radiators and underfloor heating. I've done quite a lot of flushing but never underfloor. Is there anything particularly tricky about it?

I normally attach my machine (Kamco) to the pump, will that be OK here too? Obviously I'll do one floor at a time using the zone valves to isolate the rest of the property...

Thanks in advance!

Underfloor heating wont need flushing if its working leave well alone.

It's not working properly, hence the request to quote for the job! The boiler is kettling badly, there is a huge rusty stain under the PRV outlet. The guy has had a plumber put an external expansion vessel on which hasn't made much difference. I can't see that the traditional part of the system (top floor of house, 2 rads only) could cause all the issues that they're having. The underfloor must be filthy as well.

So, any hints and tips?

Thanks!

How many underfloor circuits are there? Does the underfloor heating have a pump fitted to help circulation?

Cheers stu

If at all possible I would disconnect each end of each loop & connect Kamco so that you flush each in turn & not through the manifold otherwise you will have to alter the flow rate settings to get the velocities through each loop. Shut down F&R to manifold flush rads first only then move on to the U/F.
Hope this helps,

If there is one pump remove it and connect across the pump this way you can have a look and see if the pump is blocked up with sludge, I have come across underfloor heating with a secondary pump these are worth removing too and flushing across there as well just to make sure you get all the sludge out
hope this is of help to you

So, isolate each loop, and for every loop do the following:
a. connect one end to the (hose), and the another end into the drain or garden.
b. Flow until clear.
c. Try again in the opposite direction.
d. Then flush the pump/etc.
e. Then do both feed lines, until the water comes out clear...

And goog luck with it.
