pricing of an install

hi guys i have eventually confirmed i am going self employed by end of next month hopefully by end of next week. I have been asked to give a qoute with a view to further work from a property development company. The job is upgrade from back boiler to combi with 11 sets of rad valves and move 1 rad a meter. It is a stone built property with apparently 750mm stone wall for boiler to hang on, flue condensate and prv all to go through this wall. I need an idea of what you guys would charge assuming a cost of £12-1400 for materials. Pricing of flush seperate.

you are looking at about 4 to 5 days work there if your on your own so 5 days @ what ever you charge a day plus the gear hope that helps

it could take a day to drill out flue etc, bb to combi can be easy or difficult depending on layout and amount of pipework to add all you can do is decide how long it will take you and times that by your day rate then add some for unforseen problems /profit sometimes when your starting out sometimes youll not earn what you expect to but youll gain experience
the important bit is to get the materials price right because after that all your loosing is your time

i have qouted 2.5k but after seeing some prices on here im not sure if that was too high. I qouted an extra 2-400 for a powerflush depending on system condition. I have done upgrades in a day and a half with another lad who was like poo off a shovel. Its the fact its 750mm thick stone that worries me so added extra to allow for problems with that. I am considering using either another gsr or a labourer and would expect to complete in 2 days without a flush.

Stone walls 750 thick?....sandstone or flint?, cos flint will kill a core bit so fast you,d be better off with a chissel.

dont know mate they advertised for a contractor for ongoing work then asked for an estimate on this without me seeing it yet

Michael, if you're not snowed under with work, why would you make the job shorter for yourself and have to pay someone else?

Take a week if you have to and keep 100% of the profit.

be careful boiler sizing and do your self a favour and go for K2 rads everywhere downstairs ,
there were a post here few weeks ago about unhappy customer with boiler and rads fitted in a stone build house and could never heat up properly and did seem that fitter were going to be sued
i would have allow my self
1 - remove boiler and rads+conversion
2 - drill flue install boiler +run all pipe work
3 -install all rads
4 fill up and wire up
5 power flush + take payment

ive priced the other lad at about the same as me for if they want the job done quick tb but leaning toward using a labourer for the holes (can get a labourer for 50 quid a day) instead. Do you think my qoute is fair then? they dont know cost of materials.

Personally i leave the old boiler and cylinder in service as long as possible before I decom. So I'd fit new boiler and as much of that work as I could before I start conversion

a what lol. Havent bought a core drill yet so would either have to be stitch drill or rent one. Its one reason i considered sharing the load with another gsr.

Back boiler to combi can easily done in 3 days. If it's straightforward it's two days. Last one I did was BBU to combi in loft, rip out BBU, rip out fireplace and hearth, make good hearth, board up fireplace and board out loft. Was up and running in two days and spent day 3 flushing and making good.
