I ve been to see a customer today who has a well supply private water supply. It's pumped from a field about 250 yds from the house. The 25mm blue mdpe pipe is literally run along the top of a boundary fence, through the woods, and down the hill to the house. Obviously it freezes during the winter. The people have just bought the house and said the previous owner just used bottled water for a bit in the winter!! They re not up for that! I ve never come across this before so my two questions are, what can I do to replace if with something less likely to freeze and where do they go for a water test? From what I ve read the local council should be a blue to help with that. And also what is necessary in terms of filters etc for the supply to comply with current regs? Thanks for your help.

b ury the pipe as per regs and leave well alone, once they have stopped ****ting theyll be ok 🙂 you start testing it and their bills will rocket in short time, do this do that etc etc.

I'm not sure why but the customer said burying isn t an option, I ve not walked the pipe route yet but think there s an issue with the owner of the woods it comes through not allowing it to be buried.
So don't get any testing done you think?

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm warm fresh cold water in summer, no filtration/clorination = legionella, I'd walk away fm customers who dont listen, it's best in the long term, so what if its in their woods, not an issue to get a pipe trencher or mini digger in there.
