Hi.

Decided to drain my ch system and add some sludge remover.

i tied up the ballcock in the header tank and connected a hose to the drain point on the lowest rad. as the water drained i opened the blled valves upstairs and the water started to run out. However, the water remianed in the header tank?

I read somewhere that you should either blow hard through the expansion pipe, or alternatively push water through it. But had no success, help!

Cheers

your cold feed pipe is blocked then.

it useally blocks where it joins the system.

if you run a magnet down the cold feed pipe near the tee to the system you'll find it will stick, that'll be the blockage.

if its not to blocked a hose run from the mains water down the cold feed can sometimes shift it.
if not its a cutout and replace job.

if thats the connection from the 15mm cold feed from tank and the 22mm system pipework work then yes. most common place.
some can be an easy fix some can be a pain due to the location etc.

if in a bad location ie cutting out the tee means altering other pipework because its near a bend etc.
if you can cut the cold feed above the tee then you can sometimes poke the block out with a coat hanger etc then just put a new coupler in to reconnect the cold feed.
