I have just had a new programmer installed by landlord's plumber.

I wasn't about when it was installed, but when I tried it, the heating is working on its own but the hot water isn't.

If I turn the Heating on then the hot water comes on, but if only hot water on, then the boiler won't fire up.

I have tried replacing the wires to see if wired up wrong and can make it the opposite way round, so hot water comes on, on its own or heating and hot water at same time.

The light on the programmer for the hot water comes on when I switch it on, but the boiler light does not come on and the boiler does not fire, when I switch the central heating on, the boiler comes on and the boiler fires up.

My assumption is that the programmer is a faulty programmer as I can not find any solution for it.

The programmer has an option for gravity system or fully pumped, with gravity system instructions say that it should do what it is doing, but when switched to fully pumped it should be working seperately.

My assumption is that this is either broke, so always on gravity setting or something else will be broke in programer, just want some opinions before I contact landlord.

system is back boiler, sunvic xls programmer

Sounds like it is wired up incorrectly. What was there?

Have you got the destructions for the new clock?

In the destructions it'll tell you the compatability and also how you need to connect it with the wiring for minimal effort

Do you have gravity hot water off the back boiler?
If you have it doesn't matter if the programmer is set to gravity or pumped, you won't be able to get heating on its own as the water will always work.
HW on (3) powers the boiler and CH on (4) powers the pump (via the roomstat if you have one).

destructions say that it is wired up correct,
boiler is pumped and the old one was seperate heating and hot water, will call landlord next week.
