Evening all , I've got a customer with an intermittent rattling/vibration noise on her Potterton Promax HE STORE . I've been out to it three times in the last few weeks and have yet to hear it on my visits ! I've done all the gas, combustion and flue checks and all is ok. The problem seems to be related to the heating as it comes and goes with use of the room stat . Just wondered if anybody has had this before ? Seems to be few posts on the Internet about it but no real solution !

First adjust gas valves according to manufacturers specification especially on minimum as the noise is when boiler is modulating down. If adjusting does not work replace gas valves but will again need flue gas analyser to adjust new valve.

Hi Matty. To be honest mate, I haven't come across too many of these. At a wild guess, if this doesn't happen when you are there then it maybe it only happens when the first demand for heat comes in i.e. first thing in the morning. Could be something as simple as the MV/diverter shuddering while its opening (due to wear?) and the pump hammering away at a partially opened valve/pump bypass? Could calm down and function quietly for the rest of the day because its now hot? Suppose it depends on how 'mechanical' the sound is. I dunno, Matty. Wish I knew more. Sorry. :0/

Thank you for the replies ! Went back there yesterday and went through the high and low co2 settings again . Found the low was rising and falling between 6.5 % and 8.5% ! Would settle for a couple of mins then move. So I adjusted it off the scale then back down again and it seemed to settle on 8.6% and not move . So far no noise !! Thank you for your help

Is this something I could do myself? I've had this problem for almost 3 years now, I've had the house builders maintenance team out several times and had the boiler serviced twice. Both times I've mentioned the problem and not one person had heard of this happening!
