Hello - We have a 12 year Old Potterton Combi Bolier - Performa 28 which appears to be working fine. Its located on the ground floor and then on the first floor and in a loft conversions we have bathrooms with showers. The shower in the loft conversion has never worked properly experiencing difficulty with temperature. Also a shower in one bathroom will impact on a shower in the other bathroom. The water pressure for the shower in the loft is adequate but the slow refilling of the toilet cistern indicates that it could be better. We are having some work done on the house and having the bathrooms reconfigured. We've received conflicting advice on what's required to get an adequate shower in both bathrooms - this includes 1. A new boiler, 2. A pump attached to the mains 3. An electric shower 4. A new boiler and pump ?

Can anybody offer advice ? The cheapest option is the electric shower and there is a separate electricity ring in the loft - would this work?

Many thanks !

Hi there dermot and welcome to the forum.
Couple things. Firstly your toilet is mains pressure so either there's dirt in the fill valve or the flow restrict or inside is wrong size. Because the feed for your shower which is adequate also feeds the wc. Your 28 kw combi only gives you around 9-10 litres per minute so it would struggle to accommodate 2 outlets.
It's unusual for a mains supply to be that poor up this way unless it's a well supply or private supply. I'd get someone in to check incoming main is fully open and test pressure. Then you can make a decision on best way forward.
The ring main isn't adequate for an electric shower as only 2.5mm cable. Anything over 8.5 kw will require 10 mm cable . Also it would need to be wired back to main board with its on breaker and this cost can be greater than a simple thermostatic mixer.
