I have been asked regarding the pressure on the hot water side on a system in a house I worked on a couple of months back, they have really good cold water pressure and good hot water pressure downstairs, upstairs thiutjthough is poor, especially on the new taps fitted in the bathroom as they stand high up from what the old ones were

He has asked about putting a pump in on the cold side only or for any other options

What would ve recommended to recommendedve done would you say, it's a vented system with direct cold water to the taps from the mains

Would a pump near the mains be an option or would a pump in the hot water cylinder cupboard be used ???

I'm not too sure on this so thought I would ask, its just info searching at the moment

Thanks

You would be better off fitting taps that are more suitable for gravity rather than fitting a shower pump

You can't pump the mains. You could put a single impeller pump on the hot from the cylinder to boost pressure.

Not quite right as you are allowed to pump the water main although they're are stipulations.

I would either have a look at the tap airators to see if you can change them or change the taps, although you have stated that they are new so a twin impeller pump is a consideration although costly and noisy.

Could you raise the height of the CWSC?

Why a twin impeller pump when he's directly from the mains for cold water? A single impeller from the hot would be ideal in this situation and miles cheaper and less agro than raising the cwsc

You sure are right their I didn't read that right, so just a single impeller pump needed or raise the CWSC? Doesn't take much work to do, raise tank alter pipe work?! Depends what the main pressure is and what do you suggest? Turn the whole house hot to pumped or run the bathroom upstairs new hot pipework? Most people like to avoid whole house pumps unless it's absolutely nessasary due to noise.

I know you can use the home boost pumps for the mains. He has good mains pressure so it's not needed anyway. :smiley2:

Thanks guys.... They are going to try raising the cwsc first then see what that does to help
It was low compared to most jobs where iv put in pumps
Hopefully raising it will work
