Had a look at a real mess yesterday . . .
Unvented cylinder with solar coil (and system boiler). Customer (5th floor/loft apartment) not getting good pressure, so someone helpfully put a cold tank in loft space (giving 3m head) and stuck 2.5 bar pump on this and , yes, the unvented tank too (just for the shower, too!). I think they have pretty large pressure fluctuations - prob down to 1 bar when they want to use shower in a.m.

Im just an average bathroom fitter type and just wanted to see if problem was obvious. Now pretty confused and clueless!

What is the first thing i'm going to tell them? (apart from find a new plumber?)

Cheers.

Hi starshadowbbq 🙂 :welcome2:

I'm curious as to what you were called to do? Can you expand on the customers problem?

That sounds a little confusing/messy. Do you have an unvented ticket? If so, can you explain or perhaps draw the setup as you see it? If not, I'd get someone who is to have a look at it.

Why is this a mess if bad pressure this is probably the best way to do it in a flat????
Ps what trade is a bathroom fitter

Thanks for the replies y'all.
@Gary0689 - i was hesitating on calling myself a plumber. though i'm trained i just put in fancy bathrooms and hook them up ( i don't touch gas, unvented or anything i don't understand!)

Anyway
. . . Customer is quite well known to me - not the sort of person to take any BS. called me in to look tiling and at shower that only runs at one temp (thermostatic bar shower with rain head). Peeked in cupboard and got confused. The reason i'm posting is that i just want to know what you out there would advise:
i thought that putting a pump on an unvented is illegal since it your are technically pumping mains.

I'm gonna pass this job on, obviously, but if you see something potentially naughty or dangerous - or for that matter funny - you should probably flag it up.

I'l post a schematic later on.
Cheers

Hi! I'm Chris and have no idea in plumbing. Recently, My shower head is leaking. I called a plumber from this site http://www.mariosplumbing.com.au/. He immediately fix it! It's good to have an expert. :cheesy:
