Hello

I have a one pipe system installed in an 25 year old house with 10 single panel rads. There was open fire back boiler installed & range with back boiler when house was built. There was a new range with back boiler installed recently. It has a stronger power output that the old range. My question is would it be too much of load on system to install a stove with back boiler where open fire was. When both range and open fire are in use the heating system starts making a loud rattling or thumping noise. Also would it be advisable to install oil fired central heating on a one pipe system.
Thank you.

Don't use both at same time one is boiling up working against each other

A one pipe system will work with a modern boiler, however it won't work to it's full potential. Installed an oil combi back end of last year on a one pipe system, old boiler burst and didn't have budget to repipe. It was an interesting 1/2 hour on firing it up, but all nice and toasty.
Much better to repipe to a 2 pipe system though.
