Hello, this is my first post on the board. I am currently studying towards a degree in building surveying and going into my final year where I have to produce a dissertation. For the dissertation I was going to do a comparative study of the different methods to locate leaking copper pipes in concrete floors, such as tracer gas, thermal imaging, acoustic testing and the traditional plumber route. I was wanting to get your opinions of this and would like to post a survey to see if anyone could give an idea but the site doesn't seem to allow me to. Would anyone know away round this? Thanks

Usual plumbers route.
Look for damp patch and start digging. Or don't bother looking for leak and run new pipework.

Have you ever used any of the newer techniques chalked? I hear that tracer gas is the most accurate but also most expensive. I would be grateful if you send me a PM with an email address and I could forward the questionnaire to you to see what you think.

I'm just focusing on water pipe as we have to keep it narrow. I think it will give some interesting results as to me it's an interesting topic.
