hi lads, im new on here, i recently drained the c.h system in the house to replace a leaking T-piece, now only half of the rads are hot upstairs, (i know its trapped air), so how is the best way of bleeding the air out? some of the rads are air locked on the flow to the rad, because there is not much pressure in the rad, i.e i can take the bleed screw all the way out and not alot happens?
thanks

supposing you have turned the pump off and bled them? they may bleed screw may be blocked - take it out and stick sumert in like a knitting needle or sumert, but be careful that the radiators are not hot !!

failing that

turn off the radiators down stairs, turn the system back on to push the air upstairs, turn sytem back off, and bleed radiators.

does the system have a vent on the flow/return, bleed that.

if this dont sort it, it may be that it needs balancing, or the trvs are stuck in.

or the pump sucks!??

let us know how u get on

also the system is full with water ye??

not just full down stairs??

well the system is not quite full upstaris, but im guessing thats just from the air locks?

i wouldnt say it needs balancing as all the rads where balanced before i drained the system!

whens the best time to bleed the system? when the pump is operating? or when it has just turned off (the c.h just turned off)?

hi mate

when the pump is off! otherwise the pump will suck more air in!

try doing those things i said then come back mate..

got it sorted, the vent hole was blocked, it was just strange how 4 rads were blocked😕, anyway i just took out the vent screw compleatly and pushed a small piece of wire into the vent hole, ant what do you know, the air start shooting out.

so its all back to working order.

Thanks for the sound advice!!
