They all do pretty much the same job. First you need to work out the BTU requirements for your room (google radiator size calculator).

Basically for standard panel radiators, you can have single convector, panel & convector and double convector depending on the size and output. Of these you can have the roundtop (the most expensive) such as the Myson Premier HE, the standard type, and the compact (with edgings and top grille such as The Myson Compact).

Then there are the designer ones such as the flat panels and column ones.

If you are replacing an existing radiator, you are best to go with the same length as what you are taking out to avoid messing about with the pipework.

Alternatively to googling btu requirements, measure room then a quick sum.

Length x width x height in metres. Multiply by 45 (40 for well insulated or 50 for lots of windows/outside walls and/or poor insulation). Then divide by 1000 = Kw required.

Eg

4.2m long, 2.8m wide and 2.1m high and normal insulation

4.2 x 2.8 x 2.1 = 24.7
24.7 x 45 = 1111.5
1111.5 / 1000 = 1.1Kw required

Poor insulation 24.7x50/1000 = 1.2Kw
Good insulation 24.7x40/1000 = 1.0Kw
