Hi I had this problem earlier in the year (I’ve got breakdown cover with British Gas) they came out and diagnosed the problem and fixed the boiler but the engineer told me that the breakdown cover doesn’t cover the flue and if I had the problem again it would be very likely they wouldn’t come out and fix it,he did advise me to some how shield the flue from the elements,I did this to the best of my ability but with the recent heavy rain I’ve got the problem again.
Any advise would be gratefully appreciated .
Cheers.

We had the same prob so I rigged a plastic shield above the flue to divert the water away, now they say that isn't safe. I offer them the option of water into the flue and just get a shrug of the shoulders.....🙁

Thanks for the prompt replies. I’m unable to post any pictures. The problem happened yesterday morning and we’re now on holiday, it’s been playing on my mind ever since we got here. There is a down pipe the runs diagonally across the gable end and the flue is directly below it,it as crossed my mind that may be the problem. We’re back home on the 9th so I’ll just have to hope and prey for less rain, but I’m not holding my breath.

and pours , and pours , and pours .
