Hello all , new member here looking for some help , just moved into a terraced house built around 1890 , one problem i discovered was the front cast downpipe leading from the roof above the front bay window ( approx 4 by 2 mtrs ) was blocked , after many failed attempts at trying to clear it with rods i removed some of the monoblock at the front that the downpipe goes into and discovered about 4 inch down into ground the pipe just comes out into the ground and was blocked up with sand sludge etc.The cast pipe is approx 2.5 inch and around 4/5 inches from front wall of house , have now cleared the block but very concerned about the situation , is this ment to be a soakaway if so had no stones etc round it just sand and if so how would i build a new one etc , must mention that the gas runs into the house in the same place so very concerned about digging deep . Sorry for the long winded question and any help would be very much appreciated .

cheers😕
