Woke up this morning to only cold water and no heating (great start to the new year) anyways. my boiler has power, begines making the initial sounds/noises it makes before coming on then just cuts off at the point of firing up/coming on. Pressure is at 1.5 and as i say it was working lastnight. any simpe things i can try before i have to call someone? any help is much appreciated. ta

There is not much that you can legally do, best bet is to phone a Gas Safe Registered engineer and get them to have a look.

just thinkin things to check for? orders of buttons to press random not too technical things like that. failing that any idea of what the problem may be so i can give some sort of explanation to an expert. cheers for the reply

aps, located in the top right hand area of the combustion chamber has 3 terminals, common (240V live in), normally closed (live out, off) and fan running - live out fan proven. They sometimes fail in the on position and the boiler will not start. This is quite likely the problem, but you should be Gas Safe to play around with it.

cheers mate, thinking of getting the BritishGas HomeCare Boiler Package. Do you think this will cover everything I need?

I think you are best finding yourself a decent, honest, fair gas safe heating engineer who knows what they are doing and paying for maintenance & service as you go. British Gas and their homecare products are basically selling insurance. In the process they are making an additional premium for your peace of mind. Unfortunately there are too many people around who want to take your money and not deliver the service, BG included.
