Just a quick Q I would like the answer to. Does it state in BS that a system has to be power flushed before installing a new boiler or does it say it should be cleansed prior to installation?

right 2nd time, im not sure power flushing is that good, rather turn up 2 - 3 weeks in advance and top up with cleanser/sludge remover and leave that to work. Then see how the system works, if ok drain down and flush prior to install. if all else fails give it a proper power flush ie all day as you should and then if problems replace the clogged rads if possible. Nothing worse than a call back after power flush has caused bits to start breaking off rads etc and clogging the new pump/plate heat exchanger esp vaillants)

its asked for in manufacturers instructions on some boilers - thats supercedes gas regs and importantly annuls any warranty if not done !

which boilers, ive only seen them asking for the system to be flushed on the ones i install.

Worcester Bosch state that the water should be within 10%contaminates of the water that comes out of the tap😱.

Could anyone recommend a decent powerflushing machine that isnt to expensive? I have seen the Kamco (C30) i think, looks the business but damned expensive.......
Even second hand would do for a start

Standard states that you can add chemical and leave for the chemical manufacturer's rcommended period. Also states that this must be done at least twice and more if the water still comes out dirty.

Anyone actually do that?

Two days ago we powerflushed a system that had been done cleaned to that standard but had a blocked dhw heat exchagner - ****loads of large rust pieces in there.

Personally, I doubt that allowing water out by gravity through the draincock wil move any larger stuff out of rads. At the same time the chemical you;ve put in may/should have loosened it.

For peace of mind and no call-backs we always powerflush now. When pitched to the customer correctly they appreciate the extra care and accept the extra cost.
