REDSAW

my beloved daughter has just called as her co detector is going of in her student flat in HEADINGLEY< Leeds.

told her to check the boiler flames on a ferrolli combi and she says they are blue, yellow, then orange repeatedly.
i had pulled the landlord earlier last month with a list of faults all gas related ie loose gas pipes and no blow off to the boiler.
i am wondering if this is simply the gsr has not put the casing back on properly or a false alarm on the co detector with it being a rs flue??

anyone in leeds:dizzy2:

tell her to turn it off and get fresh air remove everyone from the flat bods in leeds or very near

and if its a early ferroli 77ff these are a negative pressure case seal so they are not as safe as modern combis

cheers gm.
got her to turn boiler off, turn on the kitchen fan and open the front window. there is a gas cooker but not been used for a few hours. told her if it goes off again, get outside within a couple of minutes.

she is now monitoring the situation.

make a gsr out of her yet never mind the degree.lol.

its a ferrolli optima 700
think the optimas positive pressured still could be a flue issue,or a issue in another flat, faulty co alarm have you dropped bod a pm? should tell her to ring transco they do have co testing equipment but will probably TOFO

Transco if your really worried and a stern phone call to the landlord first thing!

just spoke to the grid guy, he said they dont carry co test gear anymore!!

said the boiler and flame dont look right any way and........tofo'd the meter.lol.

Few of these around me. The are positive pressure boilers with crap OEM clasp type combustion cover clips that fail. Most of the combustion covers have been drilled for self taper now.

just come off the phone to her giving the heads up on procedures to keep the attending l.l gas guy on his toes.lol (apparently an ex ferrolli engineer!!) .

it does have those clips on it i remember...
it also has the top center screw to combustion casing missing and there is sooting around the hole which i told him about!!!!!!

Nat Grid Engs have never carried CO detectors. Most CO detector triggers are false alarms /worn batteries/worn detectors..

cheers bod appreciate that, your a gent,

for now things look ok.
i have spoke to the gsr, l.l and grid in order.
landlord apologizes and assures every thing will be inspected and put right, they were inspecting the cooker door seals that i had pulled him on (not yet rectified) the boiler has now been serviced (there was a comment on a flue issue, what i dont know till i see whats been done?).
turns out the co detector that was laid flat on a chest of drawers came out of the L.L garage where it had been for 18months!!, he is now sending a sparks round on monday to install a wired co detector in the appropriate wall position!!.
at least this guy seems a good un!.
