Are there any regulations which state that a sink is required in a utility room in a Bed & Breakfast? We don't tend to soak clothes these days, as the detergents are better than of old.

Any pointers would be appreciated.

Regards mickeyspark

My brother in law has a b&b in Blackpool, they had a visit from the council, who gave them a list of must haves' ,including gas safety inspection, upto date periodic for electrics, this in kitchen, that in the kitchen, gave them 3 months to get it sorted, 2 years later she still hasn't been back.

No regs, environmental health might want you to have one for washing your hands before leaving the utility room!

Sounds about right, hammer on the door what you have to have, then.................nothing
Just as you think you have everything right, a visit and a waggley finger, cant help but help laugh.

Thanks for your reply

Oh yes, wash your hands then someone sneezes and germs everywhere!!!

Just wanna do without the Victorian soaking the the wash in the sink!!

Thanks guys, appreciate the replies

normally h&S want a wash hand basin away from kitchen/food prep area with hot water to ensure workers have nice clean mitts without using kitchen sinks for the purpose. Just be aware if the council has ordered something to occur, on their next visit if it hasnt been complied with they have the powers to stop you or your inlaws trading instantly, more power than coppers really.

Health n safety will require a separate sink for the washing of hands seperate to the main sink that may be used in conjunction with food,

Coshh required usually to wash hands after ha feline dirty laundry and chemicals ?
