So, custard wants a new toilet, old out new in.

You get the old out & new cistern doesnt fit against wall so there's a gap of @4" between wall & cistern.

The waste is going out the wall so nowhere to shorten it to try to sort it that way.

What do you do? Packing it doesn't look great. Any other thoughts?
 
if cus is happy make a box and mount it to the wall then the cistern to it
 
why cant you shorten the waste?
or is the waste at 90 degrees to the pan? if it is ? pan connector

or as said above box the wall out with either timber and tile it or white gloss panels
