well today i done my first riddor. there has been many occasions thinking back that i should of done it, but managed to excuse the previous engineer's mistake for one reason or another.

today i went to a house reporting funny smells of gas, only to find two builders had just built an extension enclosing the flue into the house! it started politely whilst i explained the situation to them they seemed interested and suprised, i then went next door to cap off the boiler until i could reroute the flue and i could hear the pair of them laughing at the situation! all a big joke to them.
hence i had to call the hse and do the dirty deed. what a total pair of pillocks.

builders tho. they havnt got a clue about gas. mind you i would know about sizing a rsj. that could also kill the client when the wall falls down.

Thats the problem isnt it, everyone should have a basic knowledge about most thing that they could possibly encounter.

Saw this when a cooker was installed in kitchen and someone had then built a extension on the outside wall taking away the openable window obv, british gas came round, cut it off and said you need a vent. Its a little bit deeper than looking at a flue and thinking well that should be outside but...same principle.
