Hi Chaps

Today i did a system conversion to a glowworm flexicom 30cx. The client wanted to re use the old honeywell room stat, no worries, i'm thinking???

With it being the first flexicom i've fitted, it wasn't as simple as i had hoped. Not sure where i'm going wrong?

Using a connector i extended the stat wire back to the boiler (using the old power 3 core)
At the boiler took a live from incoming 240 then the switch live into R.
Removed the loop in the24v section. Installed the analog boiler clock, Appy days.......NO!

Any suggestions where i'm going wrong?

Cheers

on these boilers theres a 24v side and a 240v side dependent on stat it can only be wired to one of these so if youve wired it into 240v side and removed the link on the 24v side it wont work.

On mine 30cx (from memory) it was just a mater of removing the 'constant demand' link and wiring the stat (an old Honeywell too) in its place. Again from memory, this link is on the 24v side.
Just followed the MI's.

The MIs are not very clear. The honey stat works on 240, so i have a live from incoming 240 going to stat then a switch live coming back in to the R port. Nothing going into the 24v and i have removed the link in the 24v.
Technical told me to take a 240 feed from a different spur to the stat then switch live back to the boiler. This can't be right, then the boiler will be getting to 240 feeds (dangerous i reckon).

I did try it in the 24v side, but still no results.

Ah - got you - my stat was (is) volt free mechanical.

if i remember right on them its a 3 core to your l-n-e then below them in is an x18 or something like that and thats where switch wires go, i know what your saying about the mis tho.

apoligies im thnking of a betacom, not a flexicom, link should still be in on 24v side tho.

There's no l n e that i can see.

I might try it tomorrow with the link in on the 24v side, but technical did tell me to take it out though

Anyway cheers fellas

have you checked the wiring to the analouge clock this may not be making a good connection i hate fitting those glide down clocks

ant

yeah just had a look, it does say to keep that 24v link out , then l-n-e power to boiler and next to that r wich is switch wire to stat.

Yeah those clocks are crazy! I guarantee it spends most of the time down and then breaks.

Would you guys take an external power to a stat?

Some honeywell stats won't work without a neutral but it may be a problem with the stupid plug in clock. Try unpugging it. It should work without it ...........and then throwing it out the window

I agree with you on the 2 supplies. This is a dangerous thing to do but i'm seeing it more and more. So much for safety first.

I installed one of these today and put an rf programmer/stat in. Wired it up as per manufactures instructions and boiler just kept running on heating etc. Couldnt work out why. it seems that looking at this thread i need to take out the 24v link however not a mention of this in the instalation manual. also big notes saying that without a programmer or link the boiler will not run bit the link is already in it seems??? also obviously dont wire 240 it 24 vol, very confusing, think glowworm need to look at their literiture to be honest. would of rang tec services but today is saturday and they close at 12 lol. will look tomorrow and see, if it works great but would expect a manual to tell me what to do as is is the first and last ive done (needed the rear flue option) very fiddly not impressed.
