Yes, cursed Saniflo.

hello! I was looking for some advice, please.
We've just moved into a house that has two of these things. One is in the ensuite - we are pretty sure it ser es the toilet, shower and two hand basins in there. Maybe more, maybe less - the old owner wasn't too helpful and as we've recently discovered, DIY was not his forte.

After a discussion with the family about the problems that can be encountered with these systems, we came up with a few rules (just loquids, no paper), but have ended up not using it at all, except the shower.

in the last couple of days it has been acting up, with the toilet filling up with dirty, smelly water and often leaking onto the floor.

Now we've never had one of these systems before but we were wondering how to move forward. Is it okay to just not use the toilet? What is causing the bowl to fill up if we arent using it (so no blockage)? Is there anything else we should keep in mind? (Other than ripping the damn thing out, but that's not financially viable at this moment in time).

Short version: new house saniflo toilet fills up with dirty water even when we don't use it

Any insight anyone could give would be greatly appreciated!

we have a resident saniflo expert who will be along at some point or you could send him a pm he is rpm

If you have a mop try pumping this up and down into the toilet pan (being careful not to damage the porcelain) 9 times out of ten this clears the blockage. If not, the pump needs taking out and stripping down (not a nice job)

When you have a flow to the unit does it make a noise?? Always check the basics first start with power and then flush the toilet and make sure the unit functions of not start testing but it's not a nice job and nobody will really want to to it as a saniflow is just a poo blender behind a toilet

Welcome to the forum,
DO NOT FLUSH THE TOILET if it leaks on to the floor!
Any chance it has been switched off at the wall somewhere, maybe in a wardrobe or cupboard?
Does it activate when using the basin or shower in regular bursts? (did it ever?).
Any idea which model you have, can you see any stickers on it?

I've got one in my place and it's worked perfectly without a hitch for years. It was here when I moved in. But due to all the negativity around them I eye it suspiciously at least once a day.

Well it`s been 2 days now so the chances are it was switched off somewhere but it would still be nice if people came back once in awhile to update though.
