Dont really touch these but a mate was desperate to have a look at his in a shop he owns.

Its A sanipro XR. The pump intermittently runs when the toilet flushes and makes a small grinding sound. It had backed up once but when I'm there works fine. Other then it not going off in one push.

Any ideas on what problem could be?
cheers

Depends on how old it is tbh, pre 2005 should activate once and stop, post 2005 can activate 2 or 3 times on a single flush. But based on the mention of a grinding noise which I presume is at the end of the last activation my best guess is limescale. Robert Dyers sell 500ml bottles of liquid descaler so based on the shop not being open on a Sunday and the cistern syphon valve NOT letting water drip in to the cistern at all...............
Isolate power, pour descaler in pan and flush. First thing Monday morning turn power on and wait for pump to clear.
If in doubt about the syhon valve then isolate the water as well or there might be a flooded room come Monday. Might take a few attempts or if bleach has been heavily used then it`s a new part required.
