What do you guys charge for servicing boilers ie back boilers which take a lot longer, and condensing combi boilers.
Do you have set prices or charge each one diffrent

£55 backboiler,£40 combi and band b condenser £40 baxi duotec £45-65 Worcester depending if gasket on burner looks iffy

Been out doing my portfolio today we did a couple of services one which was a back boiler which take a lot longer to do compared to a modern condensing combi.
cheers for reply.

yes back boilers take me a minimum of a hour and half to do not forgetting they are two appliances

1.5hrs??????? what about all the troops who can do BBU unit in 40mins

mmmhhh lets decide who is doing it properly, I don't understand engineers and/or firms saying 45mins etc is adequate for this job,

When you have cleared the path to a bbu got your tools out your looking at least 2 hours

had a nice one yesterday a baxi inset 2 and i had to fit a new vent because builders had fitted a conservatory and built a wall over it and the wall seen of my 5inch core must get a new one 🙂 of all the back boilers i service i hate insets because as you know kirk if they have been fitted slightly out of plumb the fires a bugger to get out and put back in

A straight forward service on the good old baxi bermuda can be done in 75-90 mins depending on what fire unit is fitted with it. I challenge anyone to prove they can do a full service in 45 mins.

If we happen along one of they myson heaps of rubbish then we maybe closer to the 2 hr mark and some scuffed knuckles.

i was servicing bbu's for 7mths continuously and 4 aday was good going mainly due to previous engineers being forced to do 10 aday each!

i love servicing bbu's i was doing a servicing contract for housing trust got paid 25 quid for a service 4 quid for a gas test an 3.50 for the cp12 grand total of 32.50 per job working from 8 till 6 i could do 10 a day full strip downs including burner out end cap off burner lint arestor gas rates an burner pressures tests paper work and yes proper job on em. pain in the bum wen the screws fall out the wall to hold the fire on can spoil your day lol

bbu's are ok but i get sick of having to explain to the customer the dangers of blocking their vent, and having to write out warning notice because of it. apart from a high level vent does anyone know of a way to prevent nuisance draughts?

Flue flow tests , spillage tests ,? I find these alone can take 10-20mins depending on flue temps when you start , at least 5 for letby stabilisation and tightness , then wp then burner pressure then gas rate do i need to go on?😱

doesnt anyone drink tea round here (5 to 10 mins), making friends with the large dog in front of the roaring/hot fire your about to take apart, 10 mins to coax him out the way and let the metal work cool a bit), although you can do a tighness test while things cool, but then youve got to coax the mutt away again.
