Hi, I'm new hear so please bear with me if I'm doing this wrong. My shower broke over a year ago, it was completely knackered. Fortunately, my mate had a spare lying about, and he gave me that. A plumber came over to fit it, who advised me that this shower was over the watt capabilities. He said this wouldn't matter, as he could just lower my water pressure. However, this means if I run a tap, flush the toilet or put a wash on my shower turns cold, then off. Also, if I put a wash on and my machine says it will take 30 mins, it usually takes about an hour. And sometimes the washing smells. I don't know if this is connected to the water pressure or another problem. Does anyone have any advice on what's going on and the best way to fix it. I know very little knowledge about these things, so any help will be really appreciated. It's doing my head in! Thanks, Tom.

As you said you're a bit sketchy, going by what you've said could be summat daft, or a new shower, or every point in between I'm afraid. Not your fault but you've told us everything and nothing, the best thing is as Mike said and get in someone who knows what they're doing.

Couldn't do any worse than get a guy off here.

Please post a thread in the 'I'm looking for a plumber / gas engineer' section of these forums remembering to include your location. [DLMURL="http://www.ukplumbersforums.co.uk/im-looking-plumber-gas-engineer/"]I'm looking for a Plumber or Gas Engineer[/DLMURL]

Without looking at it I've no idea. From your description it's fairly obvious that you're not clued up on plumbing but It appears that the "plumber" who fitted the replacement shower has shut down the mains supply to the property to limit the flow through the shower. I imagine that the cable/fuse is undersized for the shower so this either needs upgrading or a lower rated shower installing. This is all guess work but a decent plumber will be able to give you the right advice. if I'm correct changing the shower may be a cheaper option as you can pick up low end electric showers for around £70 at the DIY sheds

You should stop using the shower until it is checked by a proper plumber. In order for us to know if the shower is ok we would need to know the size of the cable that feeds the shower (mm 2) and the Kw rating of the shower also the rating of the MCB or fuse. The water pressure has nothing to do with it. It will be the electrics that would get overloaded so turning down the water flow does not solve the problem (if it exists). You should stop using the shower until it is checked and turn the stop tap back on.

Thanks lads, yeah I know nothing about plumbing, so appreciate the advice. I've posted in the looking for a plumber forum.
