Shower question

evening all,

Went to see a customer today and he has a shower issue. it is a seperate enclosed shower that has been tiled in and looks very pretty, no ball'o'fixes (typical) so cant isolate but can via the mains.

The water has soaked from the shower and into the downstairs livingroom. Whwn I got there the aa had isolated the water and the ceiling had begun to dry, i checked the silicone and all seems good so no seepage round the seals.

This leaves the question - could the shower be leaking where is is chased into the wall/ties into the valve or could it be the "guts" thats need replacing (rubbers etc), like i say it is tilled in with no access - why would it leak when the valve is on and there is call for water but holds when off?

The shower is a Sirius TS1700, not a fan of tiled in appliances buts thats life I guess.

was pouring bucket after bucket for near 30 mins down the waste and not a bean

Is the shower hose exposed or is it a concealed riser? Any chance of opening up a hole in through the back wall?

totally concelled mate, i think i should remove a couple of tiles but i'm clumsy and i break 17 for every 1 removed.

if thats the only way then thats the only way. Sometimes it just has to come off. i take it is a solid wall and not a stud seeing as you mention chased

If it only leaks when used it has to be the waste or seal doesn't it? Unless operating the dial lets water up to a concealed point that it can't get to when off.

Before breaking wall if you turn on shower and direct water into a bucket and no leak then it's not the supply pipes either (as you've already dismissed the waste). So next port of call would be the siliconing. If it's siliconed inside the shower this might be the cause of the problem.

is it siliconed in the corner of the tiles or grouted?
