can i legally ie. building regs, plumb a shower waste into a bath waste and then out into a main stack? Appreciate clarity on this.
 
Yes you can but you need to make sure that when you either have a bath or showe that the water comes up through the other waste. It is best to provide its own designated waste for each outlet.
 
Off the top off my head I think that only applies if the run is longer than 3 metres, cant be sure though as my regs book is lost in the back of my tardis 🙂
 
Did something similar with a wash basin and bath waste. When joining the two wastes you can get a swept T which has a swing door inside preventing any backflow. Think it was McAlpine.

Never seen one of those, it sounds an abomination, there are two things to guard against, and that is the blowing of a trap, or the siphonage of a trap, both can be overcome by the correct design of the system
