Sink and appliance trap without installing sink

I have a washing machine and dishwasher that I would like to start using and therefore need to connect to the waste pipe but am still waiting for my worktop and sink. Can I install a sink trap and connect the appliances to it without a sink?

My main concern is that the waste water from the appliances would come out of the top so could I maybe put a cap on that? If I do use a cap is there a risk of there being issues with pressure not having anywhere to go?

I suppose if I did do this I would also need to make sure that the trap is resting on something as it wouldn't have the sink to hold it up?

Or is there some other form of trap or connector that I could use temporarily and have it replaced with a proper trap once the other items are ready to be installed?

Would greatly appreciate any help or thoughts.
