Morning all,

Opinions please guys on the below:

Was called to a smelly sink complaint last week & customer reported that this has only been the case since new washing machine was installed! Apparently this only occurs on one particular cycle & waste water sometimes backs up into the sink.

Went round last week & inspected pipework (all relatively clean), inspect drain (all ok here also) and changed the washing machine inlet to an angled so was basically feeding into trap from above.
Customer phoned yesterday to say problem still there....any ideas?

Will attached a pic ASAP. As you will see there is not a great deal of space on pipework. Am trying to avoide drilling another 40mm hole through his nice brickwork if possible though!

Cheers,

Dan

probably the new washing machine dumps more water than the old one and this creates a syphonic action clearing the sink waste trap. Leading to a smelly time!

Fit an anti syphonic waste to the sink and collect your money

When took pipework apart to investigate, the trap was doing what it should and was full of water but guess you could be right as seems strange it only happens on the one cycle !

I was thinking an HepVo but then I'll be stumped for washing machine connection do will just try a norm anti vac & see how that goes!

Cheers for the reply mukka.

I agree it is strange it only does it on one cycle but it could be a cylce that dumps a lot of waste for a long time, inciting the syphonic action clearing the sink waste

For there to be a smell though it can only be a leak or a failed trap seal
