Hi all been looking at getting a set I supose its for all sorts off things but also for work on boilers what sets do you recommend do they need to be the deep ones for boilers thanks

Rob go go map bolts at mapplewell , get the teng set samerice as halfords better quality

have the little Bahco set with the "wobble extension bar" in my toolbox all the time, and have the larger of the Makita service engineer sets in the van. Both have covered everything that I have worked on to date.

nothing wrong with bacho or cresent if you want the dogs nuts teng megarossa or snap on

I have a snap on socket set deep and short sockets + all the extensions etc all in a nice neat case. Life time guarantee not warranty

lets stop being wordy, for a lot less money dear old draper will always replace broken or failed parts on their tools just like snapon and if you buy metabo tools they look after you very well, still give me free carbons on my drill I bought at 18, over 30 years service and still going strong.

I only want a good set that will do everything ill need without breaking the bank I was more curious if there are certain things I need in a set like deep sockets or short ones for boiler work

ive only ever needed a 1/4 inchdrive set, mix of long and normal sockets, mainly bought to get injectors out of gas cookers

u use a halfords prof set 1/2 inch with a 1/2 set of deep drive sockets and a 400mm ext bar as i am not yet reg for gas i mainly use them for mono bloc taps superb set also have a box spanner well 2 bodges up and welded onto a socket for bath and sink back nuts if they cant undo them its time for a new sink!

I used to be a bench fitter and the best advise I can give is buy a good quality ratchet and any mid range socket set and just replace any sockets that get broken you never use most of the sizes . got through 12 years heavy engineering with a britool ratchet and a cheap socket set for the sockets replacing the 10/13/17/19/24 mm . there is no need to bug the most expensive so many think they need the top named tools and gadgets
