Been asked to fit bathroom for a friend of mine as they bought a derelict house which they have been renevating however there is no soil/vent pipe for the properety.

There was apparently a WC and bath in the property when they first bought it but these were connect straight into solid conrete floor (As downstairs bathroom)? This seems a little unusual as I can see most of the neighbours seem to have soil pipes fitted externally, but no holes or evidence of a soil pipe ever have been fitted here??

Does anyone know if there are any regulations to say you have to have a vent pipe?? if not would you suggest fitting HEP valves to prevent smells entering back into the house??

hi,
there is a law that says you have to report to building control and all works to meet water regs, or face hefty fines.
good luck.
