I have a quick question regarding the "SuperSeal" speedfit pipe inserts...

Do they really provide a much tighter seal & can they be used in the same speedfit pipes that accept the standard pipe inserts?

The Superseal inserts add an extra line of defence to the fittings and pipe. Used with twist and lock fittings, they provide an extra seal and make it harder for the pipe to blow off. When dismantling the pipe, the inserts are so secure that they remain in the fitting sometimes and the fitting has to be dismantled to remove it. They can be used with both twist and lock fittings and standard Speedfit fittings.
The other inserts have a code of TSM and are used with compression fittings. Use copper olives not brass ones.
The fittings can be used on copper, but not stainless steel without the need for inserts. Chrome pipe can be used if you file off the chrome, but why use white plastic fittings with chrome pipe anyway?
My preference is for the twist and lock fittings, fitted correctly, they are really good. Unfortunately valves etc are currently only available as standard type fittings.
Use only the recommended plastic pipe cutters, never use a hacksaw and never ever use flux or jointing compounds near Speedfit as they will corrode and eventually blow off.
Follow the manufacturers instructions for use and Speedfit can be used with confidence. Any failures I've been to have been caused by incorrect installation.
Every day is a school day, and I hope this helps.

🙂

Thanks system3 that pretty much sums it up. My thought was would the SuperSeal inserts be compatible with the same pipes that the regular inserts fit on to.

Just to add, if you use a different brand of pipe with Speedfit use only their inserts and not the Speedfit ones.
Superseal inserts are fully compatible with Speedfit pipe and fittings that use standard insets and they are really a replacement/improvement for the standard inserts.
