Hi everyone,

So last night my friends Alpha decided to go nuts. He said it just randomly came on and he had to turn the supply off. I went for a quick five minute look and discovered he has been needing to turn his heating on to get any hot water. But the heating works fine and so does his hot water when doing this. I switched on the supply and the boiler, without any demand from the remote thermostat, was just constantly firing up and turning off. The fan was running, it was proving then firing up and a few seconds later off again. It just constantly repeated this process.

Any ideas on what this is? Ive never dealt with any Alphas before so wondered if there are any common faults this could be, it just gives me something to go at when i return tonight!

thanks chaps...

Don't for get to take your alpha bucket as its bound to spontaneously leak from every joint when you remove the case.

Sounds like 2 problems there, hw diaphragm and or switch, and if got a easy stat , it'll be that!!

cheaper to sell him a new boiler!

Just been round and as you said its the diverter valve/diaphragm causing the lack of hot water and the honeywell wireless receiver box causing it to come on and off all the time.
