Hi,

Looking to have a stopcock replaced for an elderly relative, it is free turning but they cannot manage it. I did think of using a pegler 22mm ball valve with a manageable handle, but saw the Surestop with remote switch which looks ideal.

Any advice, has anyone installed one or had one in their home, seems a pretty good piece of kit if it works.

Thanks in advance.

When I install them I fit, standard stopcock (either original or replace, Drain off valve then sure stop valve,

I prefer to have a conventional valve in case the sure stop fails or if it needs removing or replacing for any reason

Cheers Fallon1982 - did you remove the existing stopcock or just have it in addition? I don't want to have any drips from the decaying old valve!

When fitting make sure you don't kink/aggressively bend the tubes when connecting in the switch.

Have been called out twice in the last few months where the tubes were kinked and leaking on the bend.

Other then that they are great.

To add to my previous post, in both cases there was an internal stopcock before the sure stop which was a god send for the customers while they waited for me.

As I work for a housing assoc I have fitted lots of these and now we're having meetings to stop there use as they have problems with leaks
I would not recommend them seen loads leaking so now we're moving to big quarter turn ballvalves with big handles in an easier location for elderly and infirm.
