Why has that thread been closed?!! Thought on the arms you can discuss issues like this? Admin delete this and pm me if you think thats better, just wondering...

There's no swearing in the arms either now incase someone is offended. I think the word "hell" actually got altered to "heck" in one of my posts the other week! Lol

i've not seen any rules about swearing in the arms. any offensive or obscene words get asterisked out any way.

I've never really seen loads of swearing anywhere in the arms or on the open forums to be honest. Swearing doesn't bother me at all to be honest but I know some people it does. You just have to know when and where to say it and who you can say it to. I can swear in front of my old man, but swear in front of my mom and ill get a slap and get threatened to have my mouth washed out with soap.

And how many posts do you think get edited to remove the swearing ?

Guess on a daily basis

But it all depends on what you deem an offensive work lee. I wouldn't thought that the f word etc was used in threads loads on a daily basis.

But if you have to alter the word hell to heck then I'd say a fair few, but I wouldn't think that is offensive, but if you have to alter then fair enough. I'm not having a pop at you or anyone in particular I just think if you do have to alter words that are not really offensive natured then it is ott.

How come you can post jokes about jimmy Saville etc which some people would find disgusting but you can't say certain not so offensive words.

assumptions are a dangerous things.

hands up who swear to there kids, there mams, the vicar?.

hands up who want me to swear in front of their kids?.- what you going to do about it?

now assume who reads those posts!

now you might get the point.no?

diking about and banters different.

*Sigh* Swearing ? Why ???
Ok so if we were face to face and you told me about your latest job and you used swear words, I would not be offended. I swear all the time, I dont make a point of swearing though.
The difference here is , you are sat in front of a PC and have time to type or not. You also have the time to edit a word.

There is no need for swearing !

I see where your coming from but I would expect anyone in the arms to understand that the joke thread which I started by the way 🙂 is jokes and we all know how close jokes can get be it religion nationality sexual gender etc etc etc and we hear these at work or by text etc

your level will be different from mine croppies will be different from Gray etc etc
eat give me 2 mins get my iPad from van on phone doing my nut In

I closed the other thread. I'm sure there are far better things to discuss than swearing on a plumbing forum.

What is one person's humour is another's insult. This is supposed to be a place where we can relax and discuss things and have a bit of banter away from public view. I don't feel comfortable reading posts full of asterixis and swear words. I could go down my real pub and do that, don't need to have it on my computer sitting beside my kids.

The rules in the arms are relaxed - yes that does not mean they don't exist and we can come on swearing in every other line .

fair doos to make a point but there's no need for it in every post

too many think cos were in the arms that its acceptable and it isn't.

meet me for a pint yea ill probably swear bring your tribe for Sunday dinner and I'm the arch bishops best buddy and I would expect you to be the same in front of my family

id completely disagree with that. I personally don't swear on here but swearing is used to exaggerate a point. Say for instance you typed 'I've had a bad day' people will know you've had a bad day but if you really wanted to get your feelings across and typed 'I've had an effin bad day' then it's a totally different sentence. Like I say swearing really just exaggerates a point being made. Everybody swears when they are angry, upset, annoyed or just in a mood and I see no difference weather your typing, texting or speaking.
It's only a word at the end of the day and people know not to swear in the open and no one in here swears towards each other.

Nobody is saying the mods aren't doing a great job. Everyone's so defensive. Just saying that threads are getting closed a lot more than they used to and posts seem to be edited a lot more too. Even in the arms.

Why do you need to use swear words to emphasise a point. I have far more respect for someone who can describe things without having to curse about it. That shows that person has a brain.

I don't swear while working in a customers house and I really don't want to have to read about it on my computer at home either.

Im not having a pop about that thread in the slightest, I've posted some real nasty stuff in there, I've got no boundaries when it comes to humour, rightly or wrongly I'll laugh at stuff that I shouldn't. I just thinks its not easy to differentiate between the two, the way I see it is you can have one without the other quite easily.
My point is more about non offensive words being altered. Personally, like I say, I don't sweat at all in threads, but some may do and I don't see the problem.

Im not here to argue or make enemies either, but I do think two many things are edited and threads closed.

I know your all only going by the letter of the law, but sometimes the laws an bum 🙂

No ones having a pop ,to me this is a Chinese parliament , everyone has a voice and everyone has a right to voice it.

So whatt's your point? We now have a full team of Mods now and more moderation will be the result. If we didn't then this forum would be full of spam and stupid posts.

You should read the rules. They are there for all, not just one or two.

I don't swear on here and I never said I have to swear to get my point across, I just said that sown people do. And really if your honest its quite an effective way of emphasising a point.

And just for the record I don't swear in people house or infront of people I don't know or in public but I will sear occasionally when I'm out on the lash or at the villa, but that doesn't mean I don't have a brain.

I can easily express myself using words other than swear words and never swear on here.
