Syphon size

Hoping someone can help me as I have done a couple of searches and now Im even more confused as to how you work out which height syphon I have/need.

Is it measure from the bottom of cistern to top of syphon ?
or
Bottom of cistern to flush handle
or get whatever and adjust it to the correct water amount ?

and will my tape measure go rusty dipping it in all this water lolol

Think I found the answer on the Lunns website......Base to spill over point. Please correct me if Im wrong.

The invert of the siphon should be at least 28mm above the water level of the cistern .. just measure the water level and add 28mm 🙂🙂

or just stick a fluidmaster flush valve in they are adjustable 2l-7l

May be wrong but has the diaphram gone if so save a few quid by cutting a new one out of a old coal or thick plastic bag. Use the old one as a template fix in position and jobs a goodun. Saves you looking round for a new syphon

Thanks for the replies guys, I think I'm going to change it to a fluidmaster flush valve is this easy to do ? this will be my first one. I see a lot of people raving about them but I kinda think replace like for like, but that said good to get some different options under my belt. I worked out my cistern holds 9l, would this still work? Thanks again guys 🙂
