pricing this job at the moment, need to know if a heating system has no cylinder stat & only 1 2 port valve on heating side, do i need to price for extra 2 port & cylinder stat. been mainly installing combi so not sure.

It's not gravity hot water but fully pumped with 1 zone valve on heating side. Not Suprised it has to be upgraded. Probably another job going to be lost to an illegal. Because of the extra cost of doing it right.

why wouldnt the customer want the correct control of the system, all you can do is advise on the advantages of the correct controls and hope they have some sense.

british gas are running around making a loss on install work just so they can get the service contract. have quoted for several jobs worth circa 5.5k and everytime they've had a quote from british gas it's come out at exactly 4k. can't compete with a company willing to make a loss!

if you are being out priced by bg i would say you are too expensive
bg quoted a customer of mine 2400 to do a combi swap, all pipeworks there, boiler staying in same place
all it needed was a flush and the new boiler fitting, 1 days work.
another time they quoted 5k for 5 rad ch system in a 2 bed terrace...
if you can't beat these prices your doing something wrong

think your getting wrong end of the stick. A combi to combi, fair enough but I think the thread is on about a OV system to Sealed (unvented) with a couple of rouge 2 ports not being put in on the way? I may be wrong though

even that aint no major biggie, i'm pretty sure we could beat any bg price on any install
